This 6N 7D North East Tour is your window to the mystic Tibetan culture of the North East and its natural wonders and hill stations. You will be in awe of the surreal mountain landscapes of Arunachal Pradesh and the beauty of its lakes. You can go for a wildlife safari at Nameri Wildlife Sanctuary and spot one-horned rhinos. At Tawang, you will visit the Tawang Monastery and several lakes like Shonga-tser Lake, Heart Lake, and others. Visit ancient Buddhist temples and monasteries at Dirang and see the orchids bloom at the Tipi Orchidarium in Tawang. This is a tour of the most beautiful places in the North East. You will see Buddhist temples, waterfalls, lakes, orchids, wildlife sanctuaries, river rafting, memorials, and natural beauty of immense proportions in this tour of the North East.
Your North East Tour will start when you arrive in Guwahati. Our representative will pick you up from the Guwahati airport or railway station and drive on to our first destination of this tour, which is Nameri. You will reach Nameri after a drive of around 5-6 hours from Guwahati. Upon arrival in Nameri check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
You will begin this day with a Jeep or elephant safari in Nameri National Park. You can spot several creatures here such as tigers, clouded leopards, wild boars, barking deer, hornbill, and others. After this safari, you can go river rafting in the Jia Borali River. We will now proceed to visit Dirang after lunch. Dirang is in Arunachal Pradesh and is a small hill station with fabulous natural beauty. On the route, you will see several waterfalls, river valleys, forests, and mountains. It will take around 6 hours to reach Dirang from Nameri. Check-in at the hotel in Dirang and explore some nearby areas and then spend the rest of the day at the hotel.
Begin this day with a sightseeing tour of Dirang. All around you will see fascinating landscapes. You will visit the Dirang Monastery which is also called Kalachakra Gompa. This is a 500 years old Buddhist monastery with Tibetan architecture and Tibetan décor. You will visit the Hot Springs here and later on the Sangti Valley, which is a very picturesque valley with small houses and lush greenery. After this, you will visit the Dirang Fort, which is locally known as Dirang Dzong. This is a 150-year-old fort that offers scenic views of the surrounding region. Then we will proceed to drive to Tawang. On the way, we can halt to admire the scenic mountains, valleys, and Himalayan landscapes. You will see the river Kameng flow along the route. You will visit Sela Pass, which is one of the highest motorable roads in India. This is the land of Buddhism and you will see Buddhist prayer flags fluttering in the winds. We will do Tawang sightseeing on this day and the first place that we will visit is the magnificent Tawang Monastery. This monastery is situated at 10000 feet and commands scenic views of the Tawang Chu Valley and Himalayan mountain ranges. Tawang Monastery was established in the 17th century and is famous for its Tibetan artifacts, manuscripts, and architecture. The next place in Tawang that we will visit is the Tawang War Memorial. This memorial is for the soldiers who laid down their lives during the Indo-Chinese War of 1962. Later visit the Handicraft Center from where you can get a shawl and some other handicrafts. Come back to your hotel later in the day and spend your remaining time at leisure.
We will begin this day sightseeing around Tawang. We will visit Shonga-tser Lake, which is also known as Madhuri Lake. This is because a song sequence from Koyla, which featured Madhuri Dixit was shot here at this lake. The lake was created out of natural forces and is one of the most scenic lakes in Arunachal Pradesh. The next place that we will visit is the Bum-la Pass. This mountain pass is on the Indo-Tibetan border and lies at an altitude of around 15,200 feet. Next, we will visit the various scenic lakes in Tawang like PT Tso Lake, Heart Lake, and Naghula Lake. You will now return to Tawang and spend the rest of the day at the hotel.
We will now visit our next North East destination, which is Bomdila. We will checkout from Tawang and after a drive of around 8 hours reach Bomdila. On reaching Bomdila we will visit the Bomdila Monastery, which is a very old Buddhist monastery and was built in 1965. You can spend some time admiring the variety of orchids at the Tipi Orchidarium. We will visit Bomdila Viewpoint from where you can watch the scenic views of the valleys, mountains, and landscapes. In the evening you can explore the local market and have some delicious local food. You can now rest in the evening at the hotel in Bomdila.
At the end of this tour, you will check out from Bomdila and then proceed to Guwahati. We will drop you at Guwahati airport or railway station and you can catch a flight or train to your home town.
