This 7N 8D North East Tour will take you to visit some very beautiful places in Gangtok, Darjeeling, and Pelling, which rank among the finest hill stations in Sikkim. You will be blessed with the sights of Mount Kanchenjunga from many places on this tour. You can have day trips to Tsomgo Lake and walk on Nathu La Pass, which is a high-altitude mountain pass between India and China. You will visit spectacular waterfalls in Pelling and visit Buddhist temples. This North East Tour will give you the best introduction to the mystic Tibetan culture of Sikkim and its natural wonders.
Your 7N 8D North East Tour will start as soon as you arrive in Gangtok. Our tour representative will receive you at Bagdogra Airport or Jalpaiguri Railway Station and we will drive on to Gangtok. After check-in at the hotel and some rest, you can explore the local bazaar and try some local delicacies here. You can then spend the rest of the day at leisure in your hotel.
You will begin this day with a day trip to Tsomgo Lake, which is a spectacular glacial lake near Gangtok. One of the strangest things about Tsomgo Lake is its changing colors. You will enjoy the mountain views from Tsomgo Lake and the irresistible charm of this beautiful lake. Alpine forests are scrounging the lake and shepherds take their sheep for grazing near the lake. You can enjoy a yak ride at this lake. Next, we will visit the Baba Mandir, which is a temple and memorial that was built in memory of the Late Major Baba Harbhajan Singh. It is believed that the ghost of the martyred soldier visits this place even today. If you have some more time and have the necessary Permit you can even visit the Nathu La Pass. This mountain pass is very important as Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims take this route to cross over to Tibet and visit the famous Kailash and Mansarovar. We will later return to Gangtok and then spend the rest of the time at the hotel.
We will spend this day sightseeing around Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim. We will visit the 100-foot-tall Ban Jhakri Falls. There is a small artificial lake at the bottom of the waterfall and a park which you can visit. Later visit the Enchey Monastery, which is one of the famous Tibetan monasteries in the North East. The architecture of this monastery is eye-catching. We will visit the Do drul Chorten stupa, which is a Buddhist temple with a stupa which is made of gold. We will visit the Namgyal Research Institute of Tibetology, where the museum has a rare collection of Tibetan artifacts and manuscripts. There are over 200 different varieties of Tibetan works of art here in the institute. Gangtok Ropeway is the next destination and you can view the scenic surroundings from the ropeway. You can also visit the Hanuman Tok, and watch the scenic views of Gangtok and the mountains. Later come to your hotel and rest overnight.
You can now checkout from Gangtok and move to Pelling, which is the next destination of this North East Tour. You can make short halts on the way to visit and admire the views of the mountains, valleys, and waterfalls. You can visit Ravangla Buddha Park, which has a very tall statue of Lord Buddha. You can reach Pelling after a drive of around 6-7 hours by car. On your arrival in Pelling, you can check-in at the hotel and then spend the rest of the time at the hotel.
We will begin this day with a sightseeing tour of Pelling, one of the best hill stations in Sikkim. We will visit some of the best places in Pelling on this day. Pelling is one of the best places to have a once-in-a-lifetime view of the mighty Kanchenjunga Peak. The first place that we will visit is the very beautiful Khecheopalri Lake. The lake is one of the sacred lakes and Hindus and Buddhists pray at the lake as they believe that all the wishes will get fulfilled. You will enjoy the views of the forests and mountains from this lake. The next place we will visit on this day is the Kanchenjunga Waterfall and Rimbi Waterfall. These waterfalls are located in dense forests and mountainous terrain. These waterfalls are very scenic and their cascading water is a beautiful sight to behold. Pemayangtse Monastery is our next place and this is a Buddhist monastery with incredible Tibetan architecture. You will checkout from Pelling on this day and drive on to our next North East destination, which is Darjeeling. This will be a drive of around 3-4 hours by car. The winding roads of the mountains will lead to Darjeeling, one of the very famous hill stations in India. On arrival in Darjeeling, you can check-in at the pre-booked hotel and explore the local Mall Road. You can visit Mahakal Temple and enjoy the ride on the Darjeeling Toy Train. You can dine on some delicious food at the local restaurant and spend the rest of the day at the hotel.
You will begin this day with a sunrise on Tiger Hill. This is a famous viewpoint in Darjeeling and one that offers stunning views of Mount Kanchenjunga. You can visit Ghoom Monastery and the Batasia Loop, which is a serpentine toy train route. You can now have breakfast and then visit the other sightseeing places in Darjeeling. Go on the Darjeeling Ropeway and have fascinating views of Kanchenjunga and the surrounding mountain ranges. You can sip on the famous Darjeeling Tea here in Darjeeling and visit the Happy Valley Tea Estate, which is one of the finest tea gardens and you can pluck fresh tea leaves. You can now visit the famous Japanese Temple and Peace Pagoda. On the tour, you can find some time to do the shopping and buy some woolen shawls, jackets, carpets, or wooden sculptures from the Tibetan Refugee Centre. At the end of this full-day Darjeeling tour, you can return to your hotel and rest for the day.
