Embark on an exciting tour to Imphal, Kohima and Jorhat, and Majuli and experience the unique culture of this part of the North East. You will visit war memorials, churches, forts, temples, and tea estates, besides many more tourist attractions on this tour. We have designed a tour itinerary that includes some very famous landmarks in all these places. There are some interesting and scenic places to visit on the route. You will discover Naga culture, ways, and homes of Naga tribes, World War II burial sites, traditional markets, Loktak Lake, and scenic villages, and view some rare and endangered creatures. This tour promises to be an informational one and also a thrilling one and you can view scenic landscapes here along with relaxation in the hotels.
The first day of your tour starts as you arrive at Imphal Airport. We transfer you to your hotel in Imphal. Later you will go on a sightseeing tour of Imphal and visit its most famous attractions. We will take you to visit the Palace of Kangla. This was the royal residence of the king of Manipur. Later you will visit Kangla Fort, which is a very important archaeological site in Imphal. The fort was previously the capital of ancient Imphal. The museum here has a collection of ancient relics and artifacts. There are various gates, polo grounds, tombs, and temples, in this fort. Later you will also visit the Govindjee Temple and Ima Market. Then you will return to your hotel and stay here for the night.
Today you will visit Imphal War Cemetery, where you will have a glimpse into the bloodied history of Manipur. There are graves of over 1600 soldiers who died during the Battle of Kohima and Imphal. You will later visit Bishnupur Temple, which is an ancient temple in Bishnupur near Imphal. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Loktak Lake is the most famous tourist attraction here and this lake is called the Floating Lake because of the presence of phumdis, which is an organic material. The lake and its surroundings are the habitats of the rare and endangered deer called Sangai or Manipur Brow-antlered deer. You will have a boat ride on Loktak Lake in a traditional boat. During this boat ride you can visit a fishermen’s house and also visit the fantastic landscapes around the lake. After this visit, you will return to your hotel in Imphal and stay here for the night.
After breakfast, you will go on an excursion to Moreh, which is a small town on the Indo-Burmese border. You can make a short halt to visit the site of the battle of 2nd World War. Later on, you can visit Moreh Bazaar. After this visit, you will return to Imphal and stay here for the night.
You will now check-out from Imphal and drive on to Kohima, which is the next destination on this tour. Kohima is the capital city of Nagaland and this is a hill station that offers scenic views and cultural experiences of the Naga tribes. The Naga tribes live in many settlements in the hills of Kohima and they have a culture that goes back to several centuries. After you arrive in Kohima you can check-in at your hotel and then spend the rest of the day exploring the local market which is the Naga Bazaar Road. There are some magnificent buildings here with the traditional style architecture of Kohima and you can visit some churches here. Later have a night stay at the hotel in Kohima.
Today you will explore the various tourist places in Kohima. We will take you to Kohima War Cemetery and Naga Heritage Village. Here at Naga Heritage Village, there are various houses of Naga tribes. Later you will visit Khonoma, which is a small village. Here you can experience the Naga culture and go on nature and forest walks. The village has become a model for its environmental actions. You can spot the Blyth's tragopan, which is a very endangered colorful bird, and this bird is only found here in Nagaland. You can view the unique houses of the Angami Naga tribes and the rice terraces. Later you will return to your hotel in Kohima and stay here for the night.
Today you will check-out from Kohima and reach Jorhat. This is a city with remarkable cultural history and royalty. Ahom rulers ruled Jorhat and this was their last capital city in which they ruled. You will check-in at the hotel in Jorhat and then visit the Tocklai Tea Research Institute, where you can go on a guided tour and explore the cultivation and processing methods involved in making tea. Jorhat has several cultural attractions and historical monuments. You can explore a tea estate and take a walk in the tea gardens. You can visit the Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can spot a gibbon, the only ape found in India. Later you will return to your hotel in Jorhat and rest here for the night.
You will visit Majuli Island on this day, and Majuli Island ranks as the largest river island in the world. You will board a ferry from Nimati Ghat and reach Majuli Island. The place has immense religious importance and the Vaishnavite temples here are called sattras. There are many sattras on Majuli Island and each one of them is very holy. The architecture of these monasteries is worth watching. You can watch the amazing natural beauty of Majuli Island and the birdlife here. After this trip to Majuli Island, you will return to Jorhat and have a night's stay here.
You have now come to the end of this tour. We will drop you at Jorhat Airport/ Guwahati Airport and you can take a flight to your hometown.
