Your 9N 10D Tamil Nadu tour starts on your arrival in Chennai. We transfer you to your hotel where you can have a rest. Depending on your arrival time, we can have a few hours to visit the famous Santhome Cathedral, which was built over the tomb of one of the apostles of Jesus. You can visit Marina Beach, which is India’s longest beach. In the evening, you can rest do some shopping, dine in a popular restaurant, or rest for the evening.
Start with a tour of Chennai on the second day of your tour. We will visit the most famous temples in Chennai, which are Kapaleeswarar Temple, Ashtalakshmi Temple, and Shri Parthasarathy Temple. Afterward, have lunch and do shopping or visit Fort St George Museum, which has priceless artifacts. Return to your hotel in the evening and rest for the night.
You will now check out from Chennai after a delicious breakfast and move on to visit Mahabalipuram. This is a drive of around 2 hours by car. On the route, you can make a stop to visit Kanchipuram and its famous temples. You will visit Kamakshi Amman temple and Ekambareswarar temple. Both these temples are major temples in entire South India. These were built during the early 7th and 8th century India, at a time, when powerful rulers ruled over this region. Move on to Mahabalipuram and you can now visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Shore Temple and other monuments in Mahabalipuram. All the monuments here were built out of giant rocks and are sculpted with incredible finesse and artistic skills. After this visit, you can rest at night at your hotel in Mahabalipuram.
Today, we will drive to Tanjore, which is around a 6-7 hours drive from Mahabalipuram. En route, we will make brief stops to visit Pondicherry Beach and Thillai Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram. The Gangaikonda Cholapuram also is an important site that comes on this route. The exceptional architecture here is a hallmark of Chola architecture. You will also have some time to visit the Darasuram Temple, which has incredible temple architecture and inscriptions. After visiting these on-route attractions, you will now arrive at Tanjore, where you can rest for the night at your hotel.
In the morning, we will drive to Trichy, which is a distance of 50 km from Tanjore and a drive of an hour. Here, visit Sri Renganathaswamy Temple and Ucchi Pillayar Temple, popular as the Rockfort Temple. This temple is built on giant rocks and is a 7th-century temple of Lord Ganesha. After this, you will visit Srirangam, which is an island on the Kaveri River and is famous for Jambukeswarar Temple. You will now return to Tanjore where you will visit the Brahadeswara temple. This temple is a world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also, visit the Thanjavur Art Gallery to see exceptional Tanjore paintings. At the end of this Tanjore visit, you will come back to your hotel and rest for the night.
You will now check out from Tanjore and drive to Madurai, which is just under 5-6 hours by car. On the route, you will have some time to visit the Chettinad Palace, which is a brilliant example of Chettinad architecture. On arrival in Madurai, you will have time to visit the evening aarti at the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple. Madurai has more than 15 famous temples in Madurai and that is why Madurai is known as the Temple City. The Meenakshi Temple has incredible architecture and its gopurams are famous for their intricate carvings. You can spend some time around the temple and taste the delicious street food in Madurai. In the night, you will now return to your hotel and rest.
You will check out from Madurai on this day and drive toward Rameswaram. This is a drive of just under 3 hours. On arrival in Rameswaram, you will check in at your hotel and visit the Ramanatha Swamy temple, which is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples of Lord Shiva. In the evening you will return to your hotel and rest for the night.
You will have a full day sightseeing in Rameswaram on this day. You will visit Dhanushkodi Beach, Kothandaramaswamy Temple, which is popular as Vibhishan Temple. Agni Teertham is a ritual where people take bath in the sea to get their sins purified. In the evening, you can catch sight of a scenic sunset. After this visit, return to your hotel and rest.
You will check out from your hotel and proceed to Kanyakumari by car. It is a journey of 6 hours. Kanyakumari is located on the southernmost tip of India and this is where you can see the oceans meet. The seas that meet here are the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Bay of Bengal. On arrival, you can visit Vivekananda Memorial and Bhagavathy Amman Temple. These are the top tourist sites in Kanyakumari. Vivekananda Memorial is situated on Vivekananda Rock and offers beautiful sights of sunsets.
On this last day of your Tamil Nadu tour, you will check out from Kanyakumari and drive to Chennai by car. We will drop you at the Chennai airport or railway station.
