On the first day of this Assam Bird Birding Tour, you will arrive in Guwahati. Our tour representative will pick you up at Guwahati Airport/ Guwahati Railway Station and drive to Orang National Park. This is one of the most spectacular national parks in Assam and the best for bird-watching and birding tours. You will check-in at the hotel and then do some birding in the evening time. You will enjoy the lush green jungles in Orang National Park and can spot some wildlife here. At night you will have dinner and then an overnight stay in Guwahati.
Today will be an exciting day when you will visit Orang National Park. This national park is located on the northern banks of the Brahmaputra River. On check-in, you can go for a nature walk in the jungles of Orang National Park and spot some exciting birds, mammals, and reptiles. Orang National Park is famous for rhinos, water buffalo, pygmy hog, wild boar, tigers, elephants, and Gangetic Dolphins. The flood plains of Orang National Park and the mangrove swamps and tropical forests are home to many birds like pelicans, mallard ducks, brahminy ducks, black-necked storks, hornbills, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, kingfishers, woodpeckers and a lot of others. After breakfast, you will resume your bird-watching tour and explore the nearby areas for more bird-watching. You can ride in a jeep and discover many mammals, reptiles, and birds. After a full day of bird watching in Orang National Park, you will stay for the night in the jungle resort/ lodge/ hotel in Orang National Park.
After breakfast, you will check-out from Orang National Park and reach Kaziranga National Park. This national park is not only the best national park in Assam but in the whole of India. Kaziranga National Park is listed as one of the finest UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India. On this route, you can make a short halt at Tezpur and explore the ruins of the old Shiva Temple that dates back to the 6th century during the time of the Ahom period. Later you will continue on this journey to Kaziranga and check-in at the hotel/ lodge/ resort at Kaziranga National Park. The landscape of Kaziranga National Park has grasslands, tropical forests, wetlands, and flood plains of the Brahmaputra, which is ideal habitat for birds, animals, and reptiles. Avid birders have identified more than 500 different species of birds in Kaziranga National Park. You will go on the open jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park and spot some rare birds here. Take out your bird checklist and keep on ticking the birds you spot here. Some famous birds that birders have spotted here are Indian Vulture, Bengal florican, Swamp Francolin, pelicans, kingfishers, terns, lesser kestrels, black-necked storks, herons, egrets, and others. After this day of bird watching in Kaziranga National Park, you will rest overnight in the hotel.
Today is another exciting day for you as you will go on an elephant safari in Kaziranga National Park. As you ride the elephant you experience the quietness of the jungle and the tall elephant grass that grows here. You also get a good vantage point from the back of the elephant and the elevation gives you good views of the birds and animals. You can spot the one-horned rhinoceros, which is a rare beast found here. After breakfast, you will go on a jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park and you will explore the central zone of this national park. After lunch, you will again go for a jeep safari and this time you will explore the western zone of Kaziranga National Park. You can spend some time at Donga Viewpoint. You will not arrive back at your hotel after this full day of Kaziranga National Park wildlife safari. Now you can have a relaxed sleep and overnight stay at Kaziranga National Park.
Today you will visit the Burapahar range of Kaziranga National Park. We will go and have a trek in the Burapahar range. Our jeep will transfer you to the closest point from where we will start our trek in the Burapahar range. A naturalist and forest guard will accompany us and you can spot some wild animals in the thick forest cover of the Burapahar range. We will walk on the banks of the Brahmaputra river and see its mighty force with our very eyes. The type of animals you can spot here are hornbills, Hoolock Gibbons, Langur monkeys, and wild elephant herds. After you have done the trekking we will return to your base camp and drive back to our jungle resort. After lunch, you will again go on an exciting jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park. This time though, you will explore the wildlife of the central range of Kaziranga National Park. Later you will have dinner at Kaziranga and rest overnight in the hotel.
Today we will check-out from Kaziranga National Park and drive to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary. This wildlife sanctuary is another exciting bird-watching destination on this Assam Birding Tour. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is the best place to spot rhinoceros, water buffalo, and other creatures. You can spot several migratory birds here apart from resident Indian birds. The population of the Indian rhino in Pobitora is the largest in Assam. You can spot several birds and tick them in your birding checklist. Shrikes, Jungle Myna, Crescent Serpent Eagle, Black Necked Stork, egrets, pelicans, lapwings, cormorants, barbets, orioles are commonly sighted here. Later you will have an overnight stay at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.
Today you will go on a morning safari in Pobitora National Park. After breakfast, you will check-out from Pobitora and reach Manas National Park. This national park is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas and is close to Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan. Manas River, which is a tributary of the Brahmaputra River flows this national park and lends a scenic landscape to the national park. Due to its exceptional grasslands, evergreen forests, water bodies, and alluvial plains, you will find many rare and spectacular jungle creatures here. Some of these creatures are very rare and not found anywhere in India. As you check-in at the wildlife resort in Manas National Park you will explore the national park and do some bird watching. Later you will have an overnight stay in the jungle resort at Manas National Park.
Today you will have a whole day in which you can go on a jungle safari in Manas National Park. This national park is one of the finest UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Assam. You can find many creatures here like wild elephants, Indian rhinoceros, fishing cats, otters, wild boars, sambar deer, chital, and black panthers among many others. Among the birds you can spot here are Bengal Floricans, pelicans, ospreys, hornbills, brahminy ducks, kalij pheasants, mergansers, crested serpent eagles, bulbuls, and many others. After this jungle safari in Manas National Park, you will stay overnight in the jungle resort.
You will check-out from Manas National Park after breakfast and we will transfer you to Guwahati Airport. You can now board the scheduled flight and depart for Guwahati.
