Mahabodhi Temple

Mahabodhi Temple is a spectacular temple that you will visit in this Full Day Bodh Gaya Sightseeing Tour. The Mahabodhi Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is also called the Great Awakening Temple as it was here that Buddha was enlightened with deep universal knowledge. The Mahabodhi Temple is a wonderful temple with incredible architecture and history. The great Mauryan Emperor Ashoka built a small temple at the place in 260 BC. The temple was later rebuilt and developed into the present temple which you see today before your eyes. Mahabodhi Temple is a marvel of architecture and you will see many Buddhist monks here chanting prayers and prostrating. There are many sculptures on the walls and carvings that date back several centuries.

Bodhi Tree

The holy tree known as the Bodhi Tree is very close to the Mahabodhi Temple. It is said that this is the tree under which Buddha was enlightened. The enormous tree is very special as it is said that the tree grew on its own when Buddha was born in Nepal and will flower when the future Buddha will take birth. Though the original Bodhi Tree is no longer present, the tree that is present today is believed to have sprung from the roots of the original tree.

Muchalinda Sarovar

Another famous place in Bodh Gaya that you will visit is the lake called Muchalinda Lake. The lake has a history behind it and it is said that when Buddha was meditating, a great storm blew across the land and a serpent called King Muchalinda protected him from the storm. This mythological tale from the Buddha makes this lake even more special.

Chinese Temple

The temple is opposite the Mahabodhi Temple and you can visit the temple and marvel at the architecture. There are golden idols of Buddha in this temple and many Chinese inscriptions etched on the walls. The temple was built with assistance from the Chinese Government.

Thai Monastery

The famous Thai Monastery is one of the best temples which you will visit as part of your Bodh Gaya One-Day Tour Itinerary. This monastery is famous for its Thai architecture and use of gold in its construction. The incredible architecture of this monastery is a sight to behold. There is a bronze statue of Buddha that is 25 m tall, which is another attraction of this temple.

Great Buddha Statue

This statue of Buddha is very tall and ranks as the tallest Buddha statue of Buddha in India. The height of the Great Buddha Statue is around 80 feet and this statue is made of red sandstone and granite stone. The statue shows Buddha in a meditative posture and sitting on a lotus flower. This statue has intricate carvings and is a magnificent statue with the life-like features of Buddha. Dalai Lama XIV inaugurated this statue in 1989.

Royal Bhutan Monastery

One of the famous monasteries that you will visit in Bodh Gaya is a monastery called Royal Bhutan Monastery. The King of Bhutan ordered this monastery to be built to preserve the Buddhist culture and traditions. You will find many carvings on the walls of this monastery and murals, which show the various chapters from Buddha’s life.

Indosan Nippon Japanese Temple

Among the famous temples that you can visit in this Full-Day Bodh Gaya Sightseeing Tour is the Indosan Nippon Japanese Temple. The temple has remarkable architecture and was built in 1972 and funded by international Buddhist organizations and institutions. Wood is the chief material used in its construction and its carvings are made with exceptional artistic skills and workmanship. The temple looks like a Japanese temple and its pagoda-like structure is famous. Inside, some paintings show the various episodes from Buddha’s life and times.

Confirmation Policy

Upon booking, the traveller will receive a confirmation voucher via email, within 24 hours.
In the special cases of slots not being available, feasible alternatives will be provided to the customer, in regards to the customer’s preference. In such cases, a new voucher would be sent via email, consisting of the new travel details.

Cancellation Policy

Any cancellation made before 20 days prior to the date of departure, would levy a 30% of total tour cost as cancellation charges.
Due to any restrictions such as sudden government policies or regulations, health hazards, medical emergencies, or unprecedented weather conditions, activities and tours may be nonoperational and be cancelled. In cases such as these, operators will attempt to cater to the traveller an alternate, which is feasible in nature. However, any refund would not be catered.
