Mahabodhi Temple
Mahabodhi Temple is a spectacular temple that you will visit in this Full Day Bodh Gaya Sightseeing Tour. The Mahabodhi Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is also called the Great Awakening Temple as it was here that Buddha was enlightened with deep universal knowledge. The Mahabodhi Temple is a wonderful temple with incredible architecture and history. The great Mauryan Emperor Ashoka built a small temple at the place in 260 BC. The temple was later rebuilt and developed into the present temple which you see today before your eyes. Mahabodhi Temple is a marvel of architecture and you will see many Buddhist monks here chanting prayers and prostrating. There are many sculptures on the walls and carvings that date back several centuries.

Bodhi Tree
The holy tree known as the Bodhi Tree is very close to the Mahabodhi Temple. It is said that this is the tree under which Buddha was enlightened. The enormous tree is very special as it is said that the tree grew on its own when Buddha was born in Nepal and will flower when the future Buddha will take birth. Though the original Bodhi Tree is no longer present, the tree that is present today is believed to have sprung from the roots of the original tree.

Muchalinda Sarovar
Another famous place in Bodh Gaya that you will visit is the lake called Muchalinda Lake. The lake has a history behind it and it is said that when Buddha was meditating, a great storm blew across the land and a serpent called King Muchalinda protected him from the storm. This mythological tale from the Buddha makes this lake even more special.

Chinese Temple

Thai Monastery

Indosan Nippon Japanese Temple
