Your bird-watching tour of Gujarat will start as you arrive in Ahmedabad. Our tour representative will greet you at Ahmedabad Airport/ Ahmedabad Railway Station and we will depart for Velavadar by private vehicle. You can check into the wildlife lodge at Velavadar National Park. Later you can go on a wildlife safari and view the most famous animals in Velavadar National Park, which are the antelope or blackbucks. The grasslands of Velavadar National Park are the perfect habitat for antelopes. You can view herds of blackbuck antelope grazing on the grass, and this is also a good opportunity to photograph them in the wild natural habitat. You can also view other creatures such as jackals, foxes, jungle cats, wolves, and stripe hyenas. You can also view raptor birds such as harriers here. But the star attraction of this park is Lesser Florican.
Today morning you can go for a safari with a naturalist guide and learn about the ecosystem of Velavadar National Park. Later you will check-out from Velavadar and drive to Gir National Park. We will drive by private vehicle to Sasan Gir. After arrival, you can check into the lodge and stay here for the night.
For two days you will go on two drives in the park and this gives us a good opportunity to watch the famous Asiatic Lions and other creatures. The dry scrub forests make up much of the landscape of Gir National Park and you will find water reservoirs and savannah grasslands here. Gir National Park has the largest population of Asiatic Lions in the whole of Asia. Gir National Park was once the hunting ground of the Nawab of Junagarh. Today Asiatic Lions flourish in this national park. In addition to the Asiatic Lions, you will also find striped hyenas, leopards, jungle cats, honey badgers, mongooses, golden jackals, and Indian foxes. You can also find birds like the crested serpent eagle, rock bush quail, brown fish owl, Indian Pitta, black-headed oriole, changeable hawk-eagle, endangered Bonelli's eagle, crested treeswift, and other birds.
Today we will drive to Bhuj and do some bird-watching along the way. You will arrive at Nakhatrana in the evening and check into the lodge. Later you can spend the rest of the day at leisure and stay here for the night.
You will have two full days to explore the rich birdlife in the Bhuj region of Gujarat. You will take along the naturalist guide to get a detailed knowhow about the birdlife that thrives here. The unique landscape and ecosystem of the Bhuj region have made it ideal for birds to thrive here. You will find endemic birds and migratory birds here along the coastline of the coastline and desert regions. You can find birds in the desert regions in the interiors as well as on the sea coasts. Grey Hypocolius is a magnificent bird you will find here and you can spot this bird during the winter season. You can also spot Painted Sandgrouse, Sykes’s Lark, White-naped Tit, White-bellied Minivet, Marshall's Iora, and Indian Eagle-Owl. Moving along the seashore will give you more bird-watching opportunities. You can spot Little Tern, Heuglin’s Gull, Lesser Sand Plovers, Crab-Plover, and Bar-tailed Godwit among many more such birds.
Today morning we will again go on a drive to the bird-watching areas in Bhuj and spot the birds you may have missed before. Later we will drive into the region known as the Little Rann of Kutch. You can check into the lodge in Little Rann of Kutch and spend the rest of the day at leisure and overnight stay.
Today we will go on a jeep safari into the Little Rann of Kutch. The Wild Ass Sanctuary is the protected area to conserve the population of Asiatic Wild Ass, which is found in the salt desert region of Little Rann of Kutch. You will find the Asiatic Wild Ass galloping at full speed or grazing on the little vegetation that grows here. Apart from the Asiatic Wild Ass, you will find migratory birds like the sarus crane, Dalmatian Pelican, and flamingos. The Great Indian Bustard is the rare and endangered bird you will find here. You can also spot sandgrouse, francolin, Indian wolf, desert fox, and nilgai.
Today morning you can go for a morning safari and spot animals and birds you may have missed out on the previous day. Later you will depart from Ahmedabad. Our tour representative will drop you at Ahmedabad Airport/ Ahmedabad Railway Station and board the train/ flight to your hometown.
