Day 1 - Mumbai to Igatpuri by Cab
Vipassana International Academy
One of the most fascinating places in Igatpuri which you will visit on this tour is the Vipassana International Academy. This is also a very popular spot among locals and is popularly called Dhammagiri. The huge golden-colored pagoda is the main attraction. Myanmar Gate is the spectacular oriental-themed gate to the entire complex. The beautifully carved gate looks very attractive and draws thousands of tourists that take selfies in front of the gate. The pagoda itself is a center for practicing Vipassana courses and students stay here during the duration of the course. Vipassana is an ancient alternative healing method that cleanses the body, relaxes the mind, and is very beneficial for the spiritual well-being of the body and mind. There is a bookshop here and the garden here has murals and benches for seating and informative signs about Buddha and other eminent personalities.

Bhavali Dam
Another famous sightseeing point in Igatpuri is the dam called Bhavali Dam. The dam is built on the Bham River and is one of the very scenic attractions in Igatpuri. The water of this dam provides drinking water to Igatpuri and nearby villages. You can reach the dam after climbing around 1000 steps and reach the top of the dam. You will have panoramic views of the surrounding areas from the top of the Bhavali Dam. You can see the vastness of the region, the small farmlands, villages, and hills, and the scenic beauty of Igatpuri from the dam. If you come here during the monsoon season, then you will be treated to the mesmerizing sight of various waterfalls cascading down the hills.

Ghatandevi Temple
The famous Ghatandevi Temple is a temple that is an immensely popular shrine in Igatpuri. The deity of this temple is Ghatandevi or the ‘Protector of the Hills’. There is a white marble idol of Ghatandevi in this temple and she is decorated with various ornaments. The temple is situated in a scenic valley and is surrounded by Harihar, Durvar, Utvad, and Trimbak hills. The imposing Tringalwadi Fort is on a hill behind the temple. You can relax for some time in this temple and soak in the magnificent divine bliss that you feel in this temple.

Camel Valley Viewpoint
Another famous attraction in Igatpuri is the valley called Camel Valley. The viewpoint offers magnificent scenic views of Camel Valley. The valley is named as it appears to be in the shape of a camel from a distance. If you are visiting Camel Valley Viewpoint in the monsoon season, then you will have a glimpse of the beautiful waterfalls in the valley. The waterfalls look gorgeous as they cascade down 1000 feet deep into the valleys below. Nearby small snack shops are offering a variety of street food and cold drinks. Taking selfies is a favorite activity of tourists who visit Camel Valley Viewpoint.

Bhatsa River Valley Viewpoint
The valley called Bhatsa River Valley is the valley where the Bhatsa River flows. This valley is full of lush greenery during the monsoon season. You will have a beautiful view of the misty mountain peaks, waterfalls, rivers flowing in the valley, and the high cliffs from this viewpoint during the monsoon. Bhatsa River Valley is a famous trekking destination in Maharashtra. You can spend some time here and admire the lovely views, and cool weather, and have a stroll to soak in all the natural beauty.

Vihigaon Ashoka Water Falls
You can visit the Vihigaon Ashoka Waterfalls by car during your Igatpuri tour. The waterfall is one of the best waterfalls in Maharashtra and is a treat for the eyes. The cascading waterfall creates a beautiful sight when it thunders down the forests and hills. During monsoon and post-monsoon the waterfalls are full of water and this is the best time to bathe in the waterfall. The height of the waterfall is 120 feet and the pool below is perfect for a cool dip in the refreshing water. The waterfall is so scenic that it has been featured in many famous movies. The hike to reach the waterfall is an exciting activity in itself. During monsoon, you can do river rappelling and other water sports here.
