Today is the starting day of this Western India Bird Watching Tour. You will arrive in Ahmedabad on this day and our tour representative will greet you at Ahmedabad Airport/ Ahmedabad Railway Station and we will drive to Little Rann of Kutch. On arrival, you will check into the lodge and then explore the Little Rann of Kutch region by a jeep. A trained naturalist guide will accompany you and give you valuable knowledge about the unique ecosystem of Little Rann of Kutch.
Today we will go for a ride in the heart of the Little Rann of Kutch and spot the Asiatic Wild Ass. We will do this safari in the morning and the afternoon as well. You can also view unique birds here which have adapted themselves to the desert environment of the Little Rann of Kutch. We will spot the Greater Hoopoe Lark, Indian Courser, Macqueen’s Bustard, Sykes’s Nightjar, White-tailed Plover, Dalmatian Pelicans, Pallid Harriers, and eagles.
You will go for one last and final ride into the Little Rann of Kutch and view the spectacular landscapes. Later you will reach Mount Abu and check into the hotel. Later you will visit the open fields and scrub forest to try and spot a few birds. You can try to spot the Green Avadavat. The scrub forest and bushes are great to spot the flock of Green Avadavat. You will also try to spot the Crested Buntings and White Capped Buntings. Indian Scimitar Babbler is also a bird that you can spot here.
You can do bird watching in the morning and spot the birds you may have missed out. Later we will depart for Bera in Rajasthan. This village is in the Aravalli Mountain range and you will find some very unique birds here in the scrub forests. After checking into the luxury camp/ lodge you will go for an evening jeep safari and spot leopards. You can also do bird watching here and find birds such as Painted Francolin, Sulphur-bellied Warbler, Tawny-bellied Babbler, White-naped Woodpecker, Red Spurfowl, White-spotted Fantail, Alexandrine Parakeets, Plum-headed parakeets, and others.
Today you will go for a morning jeep safari with a trained naturalist guide. The chances to spot a leopard are great and you can also spot the striped hyena, jungle cat, Indian vulture, Rock Bush Quail, Painted Sandgrouse, Red-necked Falcon, and Sirkeer Malkoha. In the evening you will again go for a jeep safari and bird watching.
Today you will drive to Chandelao and arrive at the hotel. After checking into the hotel you will go for bird watching in the evening. You can spot various birds in the lakes and fields in Chandelao Village. You can sight the bee-eaters, peafowl, waterfowl, kingfishers, grebes, herons, bulbuls, parakeets, and also the demoiselle crane.
Today you will depart for Jaisalmer and check into the luxury camp in Jaisalmer.
You will have two full days in which you can go on bird-watching trips in the Desert National Park near Jaisalmer. This is a desert region dotted with scrub vegetation. Your main target bird would be the Great Indian Bustard, which is vanishing very fast from the desert regions of Rajasthan. But you can spot many other birds like Sandgrouse, Asian Desert Warbler, Macqueen’s Bustard, Desert Lark, Variable Wheatear, and Lagger Falcon. You can also try to spot endangered birds like Egyptian Vulture and Eurasian Griffin.
Today we will check-out from Jaisalmer and proceed to Jodhpur by car. We will drop you at Jodhpur Airport/ Jodhpur Railway Station and this will be the end of this West India Bird Watching Tour.
